Founded by former Peak XV Partners executive and public policy advisor Shweta Rajpal Kohli, the Startup Policy Forum (SPF) as it is being called, aims to encourage collaboration between founders, policymakers, and regulators.
“Our startups are driving transformative change by democratising business and converting job seekers into job creators. We are glad to see many founders joining the SPF, which should reinforce India’s global leadership in the new-age economy,” said Piyush Goyal, union minister of commerce and industry.
The Forum will have 100 startups in its initial phase. It currently has 30 startups from various sectors. It includes fintech players Razorpay, Cred, Pine Labs and Groww, food delivery major Swiggy, healthtech platform Practo, online gaming startups Dream11 and MPL, Cars24, CarDekho, travel platform Ixigo, and spacetech firm Digantara and omnichannel jewellery startup Bluestone.
“We are targeting more mature startups that will need regulatory and policy support and want to contribute to nation-building. However, we will not exclude startups from other sectors if we believe the government would like to collaborate with them; in that case, we will include those sectors as well,” Kohli said.
The not-for- profit organisation has set up four specialised councils: the fintech policy council (FPC), consumer and commerce council (CACC), emerging tech & AI council (ETAC), and new-age public companies council (NPCC).
It will serve as a platform for networking, community engagement, and building consensus, helping startups from various sectors scale both domestically and internationally.
