Hospitality chain Oyo on December 9 released Business Travel Trends Report 2022, which revealed that bookings in business cities recorded an 83% year-on-year growth between April to November this year compared to the same period last year.

The company said the report captures booking trends in top business cities that include Delhi, Noida, Gurgaon, Chandigarh, Panipat Ludhiana and Dehradun in the North; Lucknow, Patna, Kolkata, Guwahati and Bhubaneshwar in the East; Bangalore, Chennai, Hyderabad and Coimbatore in the South and Mumbai, Indore, Ahmedabad and Pune in the West.

Oyo said Delhi has emerged as the most booked business city closely followed by Hyderabad. The other top cities in terms of bookings are Bangalore, Kolkata and Chennai. Hyderabad has recorded a 100% year-on-year growth in bookings while Delhi has recorded a 50% growth. Bangalore reported 128% growth, while Kolkata and Chennai recorded 96% and 103% growth, respectively.

Though the business travel started showing signs of recovery in January this year, it picked up momentum with the new financial year in April, the company said.

Kavikrut, chief growth officer at Oyo, said the company expects this trend to continue. "Demand is picking up across all key business cities which confirms that the recovery is broad-based. In order to ensure a hassle-free stay experience for business travellers, we have introduced special programmes. Customers with corporate tie ups can get curated stays options, strong personalised customer support and integration with their accounting system," he added.

Oyo said corporate bookings come from small and medium-scale enterprises, traditional business houses and conglomerates, startups, travel management companies as well as film production houses.

The company said its recent focus on its mid to premium segment brand categories such as Townhouse Oak, Townhouse, 5 by OYO and 4 by OYO has also provided companies 'quality' stay choices.

Oyo said many businesses have decided to return to face-to-face interactions after months of virtual meetings and telephonic conversations and younger business travellers and traders and small enterprises have played a critical role in the recovery process.
