Ola launches vehicle commerce platform Ola Cars

Ride hailing company Ola has launched its vehicle commerce platform Ola Cars.

Ola Cars is intended to help customers purchase new as well as pre-owned vehicles, Ola said in a statement on Thursday.

Ola Cars will offer services including purchase, vehicle finance and insurance, registration, and maintenance.


Ola Cars will first be launched with pre-owned vehicles. Over time, it will be opened up for new vehicles from Ola Electric as well as other automotive brands.

It will begin operating in 30 cities and expand to 100 by next year, according to the statement.

“With Ola Cars, we are bringing a completely new experience for buying, selling and overall ownership for both new and owned vehicles," said Bhavish Aggarwal, founder and CEO, Ola.

The company also announced the appointment of Arun Sirdeshmukh as chief executive of Ola Cars. He will oversee sales and distribution, service, marketing, customer support, and go-to-market strategy for the business, it said.

“We have plans to expand aggressively over the next few months across India and international markets and also launch new verticals in this business including pre-owned 2W and new vehicles,” Sirdeshmukh said.

Earlier this week, Ola said it had acquired geospatial services provider GeoSpoc, without disclosing the size of the deal.

Last week, its electric vehicle manufacturing arm, Ola Electric, said it had raised over $200 million, led by Falcon Edge Capital and Japan’s SoftBank, at a valuation of $3 billion. Ola Electric is building its two-wheeler EV factory at Krishnagiri, Tamil Nadu.
