Ola Electric hires Yongsung Kim to head global sales and distribution
Yongsung Kim will lead both India and international strategies for sales and go-to-market for Ola Electric as it gears up to launch its first electric scooter.

"Yongsung will lead both the domestic and international strategy for sales and go-to-market for Ola Electric as it gears up to launch its first electric scooter across India and multiple international markets including Europe and the UK, Latin America, Australia, New Zealand and Southeast Asia," the company said in a press statement on Tuesday.
Kim is a 35-year veteran with Hyundai Motor Co. Ltd. and sister firm Kia Motors and has a background in automotive sales from around the world. He has spent several years in India.

Ola, which began as a ride-hailing firm, is making a foray into electric vehicle manufacturing. Ola Electric is building a 500-acre EV manufacturing site near Krishnagiri in Tamil Nadu. It wants to build the world's largest two-wheeler factory with an annual capacity of 10 million. Phase 1 is expected to be ready by June 2021, according to the company. It would have an annual capacity of 2 million. Ola Electric also wants to export to Europe and Australia.

Ola Electric is backed by Pawan Munjal Family Trust, Kia Motors, Hyundai Motor Company, SoftBank, Tata Sons Pvt. Ltd., Tiger Global Management, and Matrix Partners India.
