Maternal care startup Promom raises Rs 30 crore from Fireside Ventures

Noida-based maternal and baby care startup Promom has raised Rs 30 crore in its first institutional funding round from consumer-focused venture capital firm Fireside Ventures.

Founded in 2023 by Manas Tripathi, Anavi Kalia and Aditya Srivastava, the company develops feeding products for new mothers, including breast pumps, bottle sterilisers, bottle warmers and formula makers.

The startup began commercial sales in January 2024 after spending several months on product research and testing. The company was born out of the founder’s own parenting journey after they found that most breast pumps available in India were designed for Western consumers.


"We realised the products in the market weren't designed keeping in mind Indian breast sizes, nipple sizes or lactation flow," chief executive and cofounder Manas Tripathi told ET. "We spoke to a large number of mothers, tested multiple products and built our own breast pump based on those insights."

Tripathi said the company's flagship breast pump has now been used by more than 1.5 lakh mothers and remains its largest-selling product.

Promom currently sells through its own website, FirstCry and Flipkart and Amazon, whose direct-to-consumer channel accounting for most of its sales. The startup has also partnered with Cloudnine Hospitals, where its breast pumps are now available across more than 29 locations.

The fresh capital will be used to expand its product range across maternal and baby care, invest in product development and scale distribution. The startup is also setting up an office in Delhi-NCR following the fundraise while continuing to run its logistics operations from Lucknow.
