LAT Aerospace, cofounded by Deepinder Goyal, announced its moved to a 50,000-square-feet research and development (R&D) facility in Gurugram, and begun setting up in-house labs for building airplane components.

The labs will be building components such as powertrains, HIL (hardware-in-the-loop) systems, etc., said cofounder Surobhi Das.

"We're optimising for short take-off and landing (STOL) aircraft in our demonstrator, figuring out how to cut weight, building our own Monte Carlo simulator, developing a ground architecture for hybrid-electric systems (for charging infra), designing physics models from scratch, and more," she said.

Das, who was previously Zomato’s COO and left the company in November 2023, cofounded LAT Aerospace in early 2025 with Goyal, who has invested $20 million in the company. ET first reported this on March 12. Goyal is also the founder and CEO of Zomato.

The Delhi-based startup plans to build eight-seater, low-cost, short takeoff and landing (STOL) aircraft focussed on regional connectivity. With around 10 employees across Delhi and Bengaluru, LAT will focus on building aircraft and gas turbine engines.

STOL aircraft typically operate on intercity routes, while air taxis are meant for intra-city transport.

The company is also in talks to raise another $50 million in seed funding, as ET reported in March.
