Chime Financial, a financial technology company focused on no-fee banking services, has submitted a confidential filing with the US government for its initial public offering, according to people familiar with the matter.

The company is aiming to go public in 2025, said the people, who asked not to be identified because the information is private. The IPO timing is not finalised and the plans could still change, they added.

Chime scored a $25 billion valuation in 2021 at the peak of a technology boom that then faded as interest rates and inflation rose.

Bloomberg previously reported that Chime hired Morgan Stanley for the lead underwriter position on its IPO, targeting 2025.

A spokesperson for Chime declined to comment.
