Deepinder Goyal, cofounder at LAT Aerospace, has invited engineers to apply for a specialised propulsion research team in the startup in Bangalore to build gas turbine engines entirely in India.

Goyal launched the startup with former Zomato COO Surobhi Das to build low-cost short takeoff and landing (STOL) aircraft having up to 24 seats with a focus on regional air connectivity.

In a post on X, Goyal said the team’s goal is to design and develop lightweight, efficient, and flight-ready gas turbine engines from scratch. He clarified in the post that this startup is not a part of Eternal.

The new research centre will include dedicated labs for combustion, turbomachinery, thermal systems, and materials, the post read, allowing engineers to work through hands-on development, testing, and collaboration with suppliers.

"Also, this team will be led by engineers. No waiting around for approvals from "business" people. No chasing slides or meetings," he said in his post.

Goyal has invested $20 million in LAT Aerospace and is a non-executive cofounder at the company, with Das running the operations.
