Wipro wants 'functional' land possession for 2nd Bengal campus

IT major Wipro said it is in the final stages of taking possession of 50-acre land for its second campus in West Bengal.

KOLKATA: IT major Wipro said it is in the final stages of taking possession of 50-acre land for its second campus in West Bengal.

"I think we are in the final stages of taking physical possession. We want that it should have amenities like electricity, sewerage so that we get a functional land," Wipro Executive Director and CFO Suresh C Senapaty said here on the sidelines of ICC organised IT seminar.

"We hope this to happen in the next three to six months," he said.

Senapaty said they have paid the first instalment of the land cost of Rs 19 crore and the rest would be paid after possession of the land.

Asked about any timeframe for beginning of the work for the new campus, Senapaty said, "We have to be pragmatic and flexible depending on the situation."

"We have to keep in mind the social issues that the government has to deal with," he said.
