Wipro releases second Sustainability Report

Wipro today released the second 'Sustainability Report' today, detailing their various sustainability-related activities and achievements.

BANGALORE: Wipro today released the second 'Sustainability Report' today, detailing their various sustainability-related activities and achievements.

The report, prepared in line with the GRI framework (Global Reporting Initiative) outlines the company's broad goals and targets for the next few years under various sustainability dimensions; including Energy, Green-house Gas Intensity, Water Efficiency, Waste Management, Diversity, Education and Community.

The report is based on the theme of 'Thriving in a Changing World'.

Over a five-year period, Wipro's energy efficiency has improved by nearly 19 per cent, from 337 Kwh per employee to 274 Kwh per employee 32% of the water requirements are met through a combination of waste water recycling and rain water harvesting.

GHG footprint for the India operations of Wipro's IT business stands at 4.79 tons per employee (tpe) per annum. Wipro has formulated a detailed 5 year plan for reducing GHG intensity to 2.5 tons per employee by 2015

A bio-gas plant to recycle food waste at the Electronic city campus in Bangalore saves four 19 KG LPG cylinders per day. A paper-waste processing plant, also in Electronic City, Bangalore converts paper waste into paper.
