Wipro bets big on small cities
Riding on surging demand for IT in the domestic market, Wipro Infotech is seeking to grow its PC business.
Ashutosh Vaidya, VP, personal computing, Wipro Infotech, told ET, “in our view, there is tremendous growth happening in tier-II and tier-III cities. This is basically driven by the SME businesses and educational institutions. We are trying to address this market.”
The top eight cities contribute about 40% of the company’s PC business. Mr Vaidya says that “the growth in tier-II cities is more than that in metros.
This is because there is a large unsaturated demand in the small towns as opposed to the metros where the demand is stabilising.” Wipro Infotech will expand its reseller channel base as it looks to enter newer markets.
