MUMBAI: Software services firm Wipro Ltd said on Thursday its Wipro Infotech unit had won a 6-�� year outsourcing contract worth Rs 1,182 crore ($228 million) from Employees State Insurance Corp.
Wipro has been selected to implement the ESIC's project aimed at improving healthcare services to its beneficiaries by providing online facilities to employers and insured people for registration, payment of premium and disbursement of cash benefits, a statement from Wipro said here today.
The five parts of this project are "pehchan, milap, pashan, dhanwantri and pragati" which include identification of more than one crore subscribers and their family members covered under ESIC and connecting all locations of ESIC.
ESIC invited three bids for the project "Panchdeep" on Built-own-operate-transfer (BOOT) model through a global tender. It received three bids from top IT giants--TCS, WIPRO and Infosys.
After evaluation ESIC awarded the six-and-a-half year project to Wipro.
