Webel to create 5.75 lakh Sq ft for biotech & IT park

Facing a crunch in IT space, the West Bengal government has decided to create 5.75 lakh sq feet of new space for IT and biotech park in the next 18 months.

KOLKATA: Facing a crunch in IT space, the West Bengal government has decided to create 5.75 lakh sq feet of new space for IT and biotech park in the next 18 months.

"We have decided to build 3.75 lakh sq feet for biotech & IT park on 1.5 acres acres on the GE returned land. GE has returned half of the total land given in sector V," IT minister Debesh Das told.

Another IT park would be built on the EM Bypass close to the Science City in JV with KMC, he said.

"The EM Bypass IT park will be of two lakh sq feet," he said.

Both the projects will be executed through its nodal IT agency Webel and there will be no private participation.
