The theme for the contest is ‘Education’ and the company has invited budding entrepreneurs to ‘unearth socially relevant’ innovations especially in the 2G and the feature phone environment.

Vivek Sood, the country head for Uninor launched the India chapter on Wednesday. "It is a contest to identify the best app that can bring a positive change in the community and digitally empower the masses in their personal and professional lives," he said.

The India chapter is part of Uninor’s parent company, Telenor’s annual initiative in Oslo. The event in Oslo gathers digital entrepreneurs’ showcasing some of the most exciting innovations from Telenor’s Asian markets.

Under this year’s theme, participants can showcase apps ranging from helping children learn algebra, to young adults learning a new language through an app, or a technology tool for teachers to stay connected with students between classes.
