The centre would serve local Mexican clients and provide near-shore services for the US clients, a Tata Consultancy Services statement said here.
"This expansion in Mexico marks an important phase in the company's growth. We will hire 500 people for the Mexico centre in the short term and thousands more in the next 5 years, as we continue to build a strong and high-impact organisation in this region," TCS Iberoamerica President Gabriel Rozman said.
Over the last 5 years, TCS has set up operations in 14 countries across Iberoamerica, including major centres in Argentina, Brazil, Chile and Uruguay and employs over 5000 professionals in these countries, it said.
