TCS expects $650 mn from consulting

Software major Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) on Tuesday said it expects $600-650 million revenues by 2009-2010 from its Global Consulting Practice (GCP) business.

MUMBAI: Software major Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) on Tuesday said it expects $600-650 million revenues by 2009-2010 from its Global Consulting Practice (GCP) business.

GCP constitutes of four verticals - integrating consulting, assurance, BPO and infrastructure businesses.

TCS would increase the headcount in GCP to 2,500 by 2010 from the present 753.

GCP contributed three per cent to TCS's first quarter revenues, company Executive Vice President N Chandrasekaran said here.

The company posted a better-than-expected 34.78 per cent rise in net profit in the first quarter of the current fiscal. Its stand alone PAT stood at Rs 1,073.85 crore as compared to Rs 796.69 crore in the year-ago period.
