Synopsys acquires Bangalore's ArchPro Design

Nasdaq-listed semiconductor design software major Synopsys on Wednesday said it has acquired Bangalore-based ArchPro Design Automation, a power management firm.

BANGALORE: Nasdaq-listed semiconductor design software major Synopsys on Wednesday said it has acquired Bangalore-based ArchPro Design Automation, a power management firm.
Senior Synopsys executives told a press meet here today ArchPro's power management technologies would enhance the US-based firm's low power design and verification solution.
However, terms of the deal were not disclosed.
ArchPro, a power management electronic design automation start-up, was backed by key venture capital firms Intel Capital, Sage and Entrepia.
Synopsys Senior Vice-President and General Manager (Verification Group) Manoj Gandhi said ArchPro's technologies enable engineers address power management challenges in multi-voltage designs from chip architecture to RTL and gate-level design.
"These technologies allow verification of modern power management techniques such as power rating, substrate biasing, dynamic voltage and frequency scaling, and extend Synopsys' leadership in low power design and verification," he said.
ArchPro Chairman and CEO Pratap Reddy said the company’s silicon-proven power management technologies are a natural fit for Synopsys' advanced verification platform.
ArchPro has 40-plus power management experts and top tier clients overseas, particularly in the US and Japan.
Reddy co-founded Sage Inc, maker of digital display processors, and was instrumental in taking it into the NASDAQ market.
