SolidWorks to increase headcount in India

SolidWorks Corporation, supplier of 2D computer aided design technology, would expand its value-added reseller network besides, raising headcount in the country to over 90 employees from the present 60 by the end of 2007.

BANGALORE: As part of its India expansion drive, SolidWorks Corporation, supplier of 2D computer aided design technology, would expand its value-added reseller network besides, raising headcount in the country to over 90 employees from the present 60 by the end of 2007.

"Our value-added resellers will be located in key geographic regions and possess strong vertical industry expertise so that they can better understand and meet the needs of our customer's", Solid Works Vice President (Asia Pacific operations) Ved Narayan told reporters on Tuesday.

The company planned to enhance its presence to 20 cities from the current 12 by the end of this year. It proposed to set up offices in Jamshedpur, Dehradun, Chandigarh, Lucknow, Cochin, Goa and Nagpur in the near future, SolidWorks Country Manager Manoj Mehta said.

It would expand its presence either directly or with the help of its channel partners. Currently, it has 18 channel partners, but is looking toward increasing the number to 30.

It would also add employees to both its research and development and support centre department.

SolidWorks also planned to expand its presence in educational institutions across the country to help meet the needs of small and medium enterprises in India. The company recently appointed P M Ravikumar as its National Education Manager to focus on the market.

SolidWorks would help Indian students to gain access to the 3D CAD software and master the fundamentals.
