HYDERABAD: B Ramalinga Raju, the defamed founder of Satyam Computers underwent angioplasty, a procedure to improve blood flow to the heart on Tuesday.

An angioplasty was needed as 54 year old Raju suffered a heart attack last week. Two stents were used in the one hour procedure and his condition is stable, said Dr Seshagiri Rao, Head of the Department of Cardiology at the Nizams Institute of Medical Sciences. Raju also needs to be treated for liver-disorder, which could mean a prolonged stay in hospital.

Raju is the prime accused in the multi-crore scam at Satyam after he confessed to fudging the IT firms books in January this year. He was shifted from the Chanchalguda prison to NIMS last week.

Investigating agencies led by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) have proof that the former Satyam founder and his family rigged shares and diverted funds overseas. The CBI will reveal the modus operandi on fund diversion in its second charge sheet to be filed by the month end.
