Satyam's Raju likely to get questionnaire on Wednesday

A local court is likely to send a questionnaire to former Satyam Computers chairman B Ramalinga Raju, the main accused in a multi-crore accounting scam, on Wednesday.

HYDERABAD: A local court is likely to send a questionnaire to former Satyam Computers chairman B Ramalinga Raju, the main accused in a multi-crore accounting scam, on Wednesday.

The questionnaire would be sent to Raju's counsel, and it will -- in turn -- be served to him at Nizam's Institute of Medical Sciences, where he is undergoing treatment for Hepatitis C, CBI senior counsel K Surender said.

Raju has not been attending court proceedings since September last year.

Raju had earlier accorded "conditional" consent for the 'questionnaire' method of examination, but the Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Court had observed that Raju should give an unconditional consent for the same.

Accordingly, Raju's counsel Umamaheswar submitted before the court that Raju does not intend to challenge the procedure of examination by the questionnaire method, and had only sought to reserve his right to question it in the case of any contingency arising on account of change in law.

Umamaheswar said the court may proceed with the examination on providing the questionnaire to Raju, and his client has no objection to answering the queries.

Magistrate BVLN Chakravarti then posted the matter to July 21.
