Satyam's Raju files plea in HC against lower court's order

Satyam Computer Services founder B Ramalinga Raju on Thursday filed a petition in Andhra Pradesh High Court challenging a lower court order permitting the CBI to conduct scientific test to him.

HYDERABAD: Satyam Computer Services founder B Ramalinga Raju on Thursday filed a petition in Andhra Pradesh High Court challenging a lower court order permitting the CBI to conduct scientific test to him and two other accused - former MD Rama Raju and ex-CFO Vadlamani Srinivas.

Raju's counsel filed the petition and urged the High Court to suspend the lower court orders as it infringes the protection guaranteed under Article 20 (3) of the Constitution of India.

In the petition, the defence counsel said his client was thoroughly interrogated in custody by the state CB-CID and subsequently by CBI and also by various other investigation agencies. There was no warrant for subjecting any further scientific tests like lie-detector or brain mapping test.

The petition is likely to come up for admission tomorrow. On July 9, the XIV Additional chief Metropolitan Magistrate, designated CBI court, granted permission to the CBI to conduct forensic tests on Ramalinga Raju, his brother Rama Raju and Srinivas in multi-crore fraud case. The court asked the investigating agency to conduct the tests within a period of eight weeks.
