Satyam wins order, employees find comfort in job offers

The formation of the three member board at Satyam Computer Services would surely have soothed nerves of panicked employees to an extent.

MUMBAI: The formation of the three member board at Satyam Computer Services would surely have soothed nerves of panicked employees to an extent. Further, the company is learnt to have bagged two new projects.

An internal mail shows Satyam has received a pilot project from the Centre for Railway Information System, which if executed successfully would land it a contract valued at around Rs 2,000 crore. The second project is from Malaysian Airlines which is also said to be worth crores.

Last week, all the employees were reeling under the spate of bad news. The government intervention has really helped alleviate the gloominess. Bagging of big projects will ensure free flow of funds, said a person familiar with the development.

Moreover, some organisations are on the prowl to tap the vast talent pool of Satyam Computer. On Monday, some senior level employees received emails from two multinational companies for walk-in interviews.

In a drive to woo employees, Broadridge Solutions (headquartered in US) has sent a mail christened Amantran wherein they have scheduled Jan 10 for walk-in interviews to recruit mainframe developers with 2-8 years of experience, the source said.

Reports also suggest that employees have got similar mails from UK supermarket giant Tesco which plans to recruit 1,800 people at their Bangalore office.

Meanwhile, the existing Satyam management is leaving no stone unturned to convince its employees of job security. To clear any doubts on the recent developments, it has started a helpline for employees who can seek any clarifications.

On Monday, Satyam Computer shares ended up 44.84 per cent at Rs 34.40 on the NSE, after touching a high of Rs 39.90 earlier in the day.
