Satyam Senior exec kidnapped in Hyd
Setting off concerns over the security of IT professionals in the city, a senior level employee of Satyam Computers was kidnapped from the heart of Secunderabad on Tuesday.
Of late, IT and ITes employees in cities such as Bangalore and Delhi have become potential targets, given their large disposable income and high-profile lifestyles. Many of them are investing heavily in the booming realty sector, making them vulnerable to such incidents, said police sources.
In November last year, the kidnapping of Adobe CEO Naresh Gupta’s son in Delhi created a flutter, particularly in IT circles. There were reports that a ransom was paid to secure the release of the child.
Forty-year old Satya is one among the 480 odd senior level employees in Satyam, earning a salary of around Rs 16-20 lakh. He has been working as a principal consultant in the insurance vertical with Satyam over the last eight years or so.
“We have learnt of the kidnapping of our associate, Satya Vedula, from his family this morning. The unfortunate incident happened from Secunderabad area in Hyderabad. We are monitoring the situation with the police and are concerned about his safety. We pray for his speedy reunion with the family,” a statement issued by the company said.
