Satyam saga: Key clients may provide clarity to bidders on biz
HYDERABAD: As the bidding process for acquiring Satyam Computer Services enters the final stages, the scandal-hit firm is hoping that some of its key existing customers, including GE, Nestle, Saint Gobain and Nissan, will help the company provide clarity to potential bidders about future business. Satyam is expected to allow shortlisted bidders to interact with some of its committed customers, as part of the due diligence process for acquiring the scandal-hit company.

Customers such as Nestle, DuPont, Saint Gobain and GE continue to work with Satyam despite ambiguities about the change in the management and other financial irregularities.

Satyam has done some good work for companies such as Nestle, Nissan and Saint Gobain by helping them to roll out complex enterprise applications across their global operations, a senior executive at one of these customer organisations told ET on conditions of anonymity.

GE, which accounts for over 4% of Satyams revenues, has not shifted any projects from the company so far. While the developments are being tracked at the corporate level, we have not seen any delivery issues with Satyam so far, said a person familiar with GEs outsourcing decisions. National Australia Bank (NAB) also continues to wait for more clarity, before exploring to shift work from Satyam to rival tech firms. The bank is now conducting a review of the business it has given to Satyam.

"Satyam continues to meet all its service level commitments and contractual obligations," said Felicity Glennie-Holmes, a spokesperson at NAB. "Until the longer term future of Satyam becomes clearer, we have no plans to transition any further processes, as part of the second wave of our technology offshoring programme."
