MUMBAI: Roshni Nadar, the 31-year-old heiress of the Shiv Nadar empire will take over as the chairman of the holding company - HCL Corporation. "She is the only daughter of Shiv Nadar. Obviously she will succeed him, though nothing has been finalized on Shiv's date or retirement," Saurav Adhikari, president and global head for corporate strategy at HCL said.

He said that the HCL group had clear policies of retirement for management staff and board members at the listed entities. However, there is no rule for retirement in the holding company -- HCL Corporation -- in which Roshni is already the CEO and executive director.

HCL Corporation is wholly owned by Shiv Nadar, his wife Kiran and their daughter Roshni. It is the holding company of HCL Technologies, India's fourth largest IT company, and HCL Infosystems, a provider of IT hardware and systems integration services.

Roshni, who studied MBA at the Kellogg University, was appointed CEO of the holding company in 2009. She handles the treasury operations, including investment decisions. Shiv Nadar, as chairman, focuses on developing the vision for the group, and is particularly focused on his philanthropic work for which he has committed 10% of his wealth. The two listed entities are professionally managed, and Roshni is known to have said she would like to keep them that way.
