Ramadorai to become non-executive vice-chairman of TCS

Tata Consultancy Services on Friday said its CEO S Ramadorai, who is retiring on October 5, will be appointed as the company's non-executive vice-chairman.

MUMBAI: Tata Consultancy Services on Friday said its CEO S Ramadorai, who is retiring on October 5, will be appointed as the company's non-executive vice-chairman.

Ramadorai would also serve as an additional director. TCS in a filing to the Bombay Stock Exchange said the appointment of Ramadorai as non-executive vice-chairman and additional director would be effective from October 6.

The company's board of directors also confirmed the appointment of N Chandrasekaran as its Chief Executive Officer and Managing Director.

Chandrasekaran at present is COO and executive director. "Ramadorai, the present Chief Executive Officer and Managing Director will retire from his executive and board position on October 5, 2009 on reaching the retirement age of 65 years as per the company's policy," the filing said.

Shares of the Tata group firm closed at Rs 531.71, down 0.23 per cent from the previous close on the BSE.
