Raju’s ill health may delay Satyam trial

A speedy trial of the multi-crore scam at Satyam Computers will be delayed, with the prime accused B Ramalinga Raju, the defamed founder of the IT firm, taking ill.

HYDERABAD: A speedy trial of the multi-crore scam at Satyam Computers will be delayed, with the prime accused B Ramalinga Raju, the defamed founder of the IT firm, taking ill.

The corporate affairs ministry was keen on a speedy trial to nail the offenders who perpetrated the Rs 7,000-crore at Satyam.

The AP High Court has granted an in-principle approval to set up a separate division bench to expedite the trial. But the judges are yet to be appointed.

The delay would also hamper CBIs move to conduct a lie-detector and polygraph test on Raju and his co-conspirers. Raju, who contested the validity of these tests, suffered a heart attack on Monday.

He is also suffering from Hepatitis C and hypertension, according to medical reports conducted earlier at the Osmania General Hospital. ET has a copy of this report which says that Raju is suffering from chronic active hepatitis.
