Oracle named leading RDBMS vendor in India

Oracle on Monday announced that it has been named the leading relational Database Management Systems (RDBMS) vendor in India and Asia pacific excluding Japan.

BANGALORE: Oracle on Monday announced that it has been named the leading relational Database Management Systems (RDBMS) vendor in India and Asia pacific excluding Japan, based on first half 2007 Asia Pacific software revenues by IDC.

In IDC's "Asia/pacific Semi-Annual Software Tracker, September 2007" report, Oracle is the Asia Pacific market leader with 53 percent market share, growing 19 percent year-over-year to reach USD 373 million in software revenue in first half of 2007.

It has strengthened its market share lead by nearly four percent over its second half 2006 figure of 50 percent.

The company commands more than double the market share of its nearest competitor in the RDBMS market who has 21 percent.

In India, Oracle leads the RDBMS market with 63 percent market share. This is nearly thrice that of its nearest competitor who only has 23 percent share, a release said here.
