NVIDIA launches supercomputer in India

NVIDIA Corporation, a visual computing technologies company, announced the launch of 'Tesla Personal Supercomputer', a system that can deliver 250 times the performance of a standard personal computer at a low cost, in the Indian market.

HYDERABAD: NVIDIA Corporation, a visual computing technologies company, announced the launch of 'Tesla Personal Supercomputer', a system that can deliver 250 times the performance of a standard personal computer at a low cost, in the Indian market.

Speaking to media here, NVIDIA President & CEO Jen-Hsun Huang said, "it (supercomputer) will benefit 15 mn researchers globally. The company has partnered with Connoiseur Electronics, a computer manufacturer to make the personal supercomputing a reality".

The system has been priced at Rs 1,55,000 onwards and deliver up to 250 times the performance of a standard computing workstation at a fraction of the cost. Connoiseur Electronics Director R P Harish Kumar said that the supercomputer can bring computing power equivalent to that of a room-sized server cluster right to the desktop at 1/100th of the price.

Replying to a question, Huang said that his intention is to put CUDA parallel processing architecture on the mobile device and he believe it would be the real super computing.
