BANGALORE: Novell, a global leader in enterprise-class solutions and support for proprietary and open source software, would expand its India development centre located here with an aggressive hiring programme, its Chief Technology Officer Jeffrey Jaffe said.

The Novell Bangalore Engineering R & D centre is the largest lab of Novell Inc outside USA, employing 275 professionals who contributed 25-30 per cent of the company's entire development activity, Jaffe said.

"The technical talent in Bangalore is very great and phenomenal," he told reporters here. "We have very specific growth plans for Bangalore. We have an aggressive hiring programme."

Jaffe, who most recently served as President of Bell Labs Research and Advanced Technologies, however, declined to say the number of staff the company intended to add in Bangalore going forward.
