NIIT, Singapore defence agency ink contract

NIIT Technologies has signed a contract with Singapore’s Defence Science and Technology Agency, under which the latter will outsource the development and maintenance support of their Government e-business portal (GeBIZ) to the Indian IT company.

NEW DELHI: NIIT Technologies has signed a contract with Singapore’s Defence Science and Technology Agency, under which the latter will outsource the development and maintenance support of their Government e-business portal (GeBIZ) to the Indian IT company.

The contract also involves productising the application, and marketing the solutions to other Governments in South Asia, Middle East and Central Europe. The deal is estimated at about S$2.5m over a two-year period. “The marketing tie-up with DSTA marks a new phase in our decade old presence in Singapore.

This tie-up will help us address the fast growing e-governance market in India and other countries,” Arvind Thakur, CEO, NIIT said. The GeBIZ portal is a one-stop eBusiness site that facilitates trading between government organisations and its local and overseas suppliers.
