NIIT-GIS to increase headcount to 500 by '07

NIIT-GIS, arm of software solutions provider NIIT Technologies, is targeting global revenues of Rs 50 crore this fiscal and will double its headcount in the country to 500 by 2007.


NEW DELHI: NIIT-GIS, arm of software solutions provider NIIT Technologies, is targeting global revenues of Rs 50 crore this fiscal and will double its headcount in the country to 500 by 2007.

"We are expecting to double our global revenues to Rs 50 crore this year from Rs 36 crore last year," NIIT-GIS President Rajesh C Mathur told media.

Going by the requirements, we will also increase our employee strength to 500 by the end of this year from 220 currently, he said. NIIT-GIS has presence in the US, Europe, Middle East and Asia Pacific, including India.

The company is a joint venture with US-based Geographical Information System (GIS) software major ESRI (Environment Systems Research Institute) and provides ESRI software, training, consulting and technical support to its customers.

"We have over 2,000 customers, including enterprises and government bodies and we are expecting to add about 300 more customers this year," Mathur said.

He said it will also set up a software unit in Hyderabad in the next few years. He, however, declined to divulge the details of investment for the proposed unit. The company already has two software units at Delhi and Himachal Pradesh.

"The GIS market in India will increase substantially in the coming time as the usage of this software is gaining momentum," he added. According to a survey, GIS market in India will touch Rs 550 crore this year and is growing at an annual rate of 28 per cent, he said.
