A high-level team from software association Nasscom will be in the US next month to liaise with the new Obama administration to convince them of the benefits of outsourcing besides other things.

NEW DELHI: A high-level team from software association Nasscom will be in the US next month to liaise with the new Obama administration, top politicians, thinks- tanks and corporates and convince them of the benefits of outsourcing besides other things.
Nasscom Chairman Ganesh Natarajan, who will lead the team that will also have President Som Mittal, said the five-day visit would focus on three things -- totalisation agreement, immigration issues and benefits of outsourcing.
Nasscom is lobbying for totalisation pact with the US, which already has this agreement with several countries to avoid double taxation of income with respect to social security taxes.
Indians with H1B or L1 visas contribute significantly to the US social security schemes every year, but do not the get benefits since India and the US does not have a totalisation agreement.
The visit by the association, though Natarajan terms as routine and quarterly, observers said would have a number of tasks at hand, which includes liaising with the new Obama administration.

TAG Heuer to launch 53 models this year; eyes 10 pc mkt share

New Delhi, Feb 4 (PTI) Swiss watch-maker TAG Heuer is planning to launch 53 global models priced between Rs 30,000 and Rs 2 lakh this year in India as it eyes to capture 10 per cent share of the domestic luxury watch market. "We would be launching around 53 watches all over the world, including India. We will keep innovating our products and maintain a double digit growth rate," TAG Heuer President and CEO Jean-Christophe told PTI.
At present, the company has around 200 watch models and are available in five series.
The company is growing at a rate of 40 per cent and currently holds eight per cent share of the estimated USD 250-million Indian luxury watch market, he added.

Launching its Carrera Calibre 16 Day-Date Chronograph 43 mm, Christophe said the company has doubled its growth last year, compared to the previous year. "India is a big strategic market for us. We were having a 20 per cent growth rate but last year it doubled to 40 per cent. So consistency is something what we look for in India," he said.

However, the company had closed 10 stores, including six boutique stores across the country last year. Download
