NASSCOM signs MOU with Chile to promote IT

NASSCOM signed an MOU with Chile’s IT body Acti, to promote development of IT sector in both countries.

CHENNAI: Software lobby Nasscom on Friday signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with Chiles IT body Acti, in an effort to promote development of the IT sector in both countries. The MOU underlines the growing importance of Latin America as a market for IT companies.

The MOU would act as a channel of collaboration of IT companies in both the countries. Mr Mittal and Acti president Miguel Perez signed it.

The IT industry gets 60% of its revenues from North America, 30% from Europe and 10% from the rest of the world. The rest of the world market is growing faster than Europe, which in turn is growing faster than the US. Chile is an important destination and there are at least 10 companies that have set up or are in the process of setting up operations there, said Nasscom president Som Mittal.

Both parties will interchange information, publications, and opinions that concern the growth and development of the IT industry of each country, once a year. The MoU will also support the training and certification of the IT workforce in both the countries.
