Microsoft’s ‘Jumpstart’ to solve tech, business queries
BANGALORE: Microsoft Ventures launched a hotline in India for startups called “JumpStart” to assist startups and entrepreneurs with business and technical questions. The service will assist startups with issues such as how to register a company, how much tax to pay, what is company law, where to find a good lawyer or chartered accountant and what technology to use for their specific needs.

Microsoft is also in talks with Karnataka government to integrate this service as a part of citizen grievances redressal service called Mobile One that the government plans to launch from May 1.

"By availing this critical support through JumpStart, startups will have the opportunity to be heard and have access to informed decision-making support," said Srivatsa Krishna, secretary, IT, biotechnology, science & technology and secretary, e-governance, Government of Karnataka.

Microsoft has tied up with accountants, lawyers, tax and technology experts who will answer queries . The free-ofcharge service will connect startups with local experts if needed.

“We are beginning with support in Hindi and English. If the need arises, we’ll add other languages as well,” Ravi Narayan, director of Microsoft Ventures, said.

Microsoft said it will apply the learnings from these calls to fine tune the Microsoft Ventures programme, including the India Accelerator, to make it more impactful for its recipients.
