Microsoft signs MoU with Karnataka govt

The Karnataka govt has signed an MoU with Microsoft India for e-governance in various departments.

BANGALORE: The Karnataka government on Monday signed an Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Microsoft India to usher in "paperless office" by introducing e-governance in various departments of the state government.
Letters of Intent outlining the terms of the agreement were exchanged between the two parties, Chief Minister H D Kumaraswamy told reporters.
A pilot project on paperless functioning which had been initiated in the IT-BT department of the state government was expected to be completed by next week, he said.
The project would be extended to other departments subsequent to the completion in the IT-BT department.
There would be no financial cost involved in implementation of the project, he said.
The e-governance process would see the application of the principles of Microsoft, Kumaraswamy said.
