Microsoft launches software for SMEs
IT major Microsoft launched its Window Server 2008 Foundation targeted at the SME segment and has partnered with HP and Dell to roll out the product in India.
"We are looking at making the product available at affordable prices and within the reach of small businesses. We have already parterned with HP and Dell to roll out the product by month end," Microsoft President (Server and Tool Buisness) Bob Muglia told reporters here.
The company is also talking to other original equipment manufaturer (OEM) to further strengthen the distribution channel for Window Server 2008 Foundation, he added.
Muglia said though the pricing of the product would be OEM dependent, the cost of the software would be around to USD 150 to 200.
The application, built for businesses with 15 or fewer users, has the ability to run business application and data bases, host website as well as offer basic server functionality like file and print sharing and remote access.
