The manufacturer is supposedly working on a new mobile operating system meant for use across devices like smartphones, tablets, wearables and televisions. Micromax is yet to launch a wearable, so we're guessing this will mean that the company could soon release one.
Although Micromax currently uses a skinned version of Android on its devices, having a dedicated mobile OS will allow it to streamline updates and offer more features to the customers on a timely basis. It is said that the company's Bangalore wing has nearly 75 developers hard at work to bring this idea to fruition.
The co-founder of Micromax, Vikas Jain has mentioned to The Economic Times that the first devices featuring this OS will be available by the end of the financial year 2015. He also clarified that these devices will be easy on the consumers' wallets.
Micromax teamed up with Cyanogen for its YU series of smartphones, so we're hoping this new Micromax OS will be something similar and free from unnecessary bloatware apps.
