The app, available on both Android and IOS platforms, will be free for the first six months and feature content from up to 50 best-selling Indian authors in fiction and non-fiction space.
From January onwards, freshly curated, exclusive content in the form of articles, interviews, talks, short stories, new book announcements and promotions will be updated on the app on a weekly basis.
“We will use this space to keep reader interest alive between book launches. Litomania app will place Indian literature on the map in the world of e-consumption of books and content,” said Sangram Surve, director, Think-WhyNot. E-books are not a huge phenomenon at present but an inevitable future, according to literary professionals including publishers and authors.
“We have around 600,000 to 700,000 titles when it comes to e-books and this selection is growing rapidly,” said Gaurav Gupta, director, retailbooks, at Flipkart. “Our India centric collection is the strongest and most relevant in this market.”
