JECRC becomes Microsoft innovation alliance member

JAIPUR: Jaipur Engineering College and Research Centre was inducted into multinational technology firm Microsoft's education alliance programme on Wednesday as an "innovation alliance member".

The educational alliance offers a digital literary curriculum to minimise the digital divide and improve employability skills, Microsoft GM, Developer and Platform Evangelism, Moorthy K Uppalpuri said here on the sidelines of a formal induction ceremony, where Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot was also present.

The education alliance programme provides tools to improve the delivery of education through information technology and communication (ICT)-enabled classrooms, he said.

What is more, alliance members will be a part of Microsoft's Live@edu programme to enhance community-level collaboration in education.

Through such efforts Microsoft builds the capability of both teachers and students to use ICT in education for overall improvement of education standards, he said.

Microsoft India is focused on long-term investments and partnerships with state governments through the education alliance programme, Moorthy said, adding that Microsoft has so far signed MoUs for an education alliance with the state governments of Tamil Nadu, Gujarat, Andhra Pradesh, Meghalaya, Maharashtra, Bihar and Madhya Pradesh.

Moorthy presented a certificate of award to JECRC Foundation Directors Amit Agarwal and Arpit Agarwal at the induction ceremony.

Amit Agarwal said the education alliance with Microsoft will give students and teachers access to a comprehensive set of resources and facilities to enhance collaboration and skill development.

It will be a bridge between industry and students, strengthen students' skills and make them more employable, he said.
