IT meet to open new opportunities in Aurangabad

The first day of the IT Business Leader Summit at Aurangabad saw the unveiling of two IT parks in the city followed by a panel discussion on the opportunities offered to IT companies.

AURANGABAD: The first day of the IT Business Leader Summit at Aurangabad saw the unveiling of two IT parks in the city followed by a panel discussion on the opportunities offered to IT companies.

i-flex Solutions vice-chairman Deepak Ghaisas and NASSCOM vice-president Ganesh Natarajan along with Aurangabad municipal commissioner Aseem Gupta and MIDC CEO Rajeev Jalota participated in the discussion.

The summit is organised by the Aurangabad Municipal Corporation and the Chamber of Marathwada Industries and Agriculture in association with The Economic Times. Mr Ghaisas said although Aurangabad offered many opportunities to IT companies, shortage of power is a big concern. The Aurangabad administration has, however, assured uninterrupted power supply in industrial areas such as Chikalthana to support trade.

Aseem Gupta said the FSI of two that has been currently offered for IT construction and the permission to operate from all zones would be attractive for IT companies. The second day of the summit saw packed sessions.

The day began with a panel discussion on the road ahead for Aurangabad in technology, tourism and IT. Maharashtra development commissioner Malini Shankar, municipal commissioner and representatives of CMIA and Nasscom expressed their views. This was followed by interactions between faculties of colleges and key executives of companies like TCS, Patni Computer, Syntel, Big Animation and Autodesk of Singapore.

The evening saw another panel discussion on the scope of BPO businesses in Aurangabad, with participation from heads of Deutsche Bank, KPIT Cummins, Vertex, Sitel and GeBBS Technologies. Apart from this, the summit also organised sessions for students on career opportunities in BPOs and also in animation and gaming. About 4,000 students participated in the sessions.
