'Infosys may miss sales target in rupees'

Infosys is likely to miss its first-quarter sales forecast in rupee terms, Credit Suisse, said on Friday.

BANGALORE: Infosys Technologies Ltd, India's second-largest computer-services provider, is likely to miss its first-quarter sales forecast in rupee terms, Bhuvnesh Singh and Sunil Tirumalai, analysts at Credit Suisse, said on Friday.

Infosys may also reduce its forecast for earnings per share in rupee terms for the year ending March 31, Singh said in a note to clients today. Bangalore-based Infosys will be able to exceed and raise its forecast in US dollars, he said.

The Indian currency's appreciation against the dollar during the three months ended March 31 reduced the value of earnings repatriated from the US, the company's biggest market.
