iGate Technologies interested in buying Satyam

HYDERABAD: iGate Technologies chief executive officer Phaneesh Murthy is engaged in a dialogue with the Satyam board to evaluate options that includes a merger or acquisition. "A merger with Satyam will give iGATE the scale and make us stronger. We are keen and comfortable to acquire selective portions of the business," the company said in a statement issued on Friday.

Phaneesh Murty's iGate is one of the many companies that is in the race to buy Satyam. L&T Infotech, Tech Mahindra are the other companies that are also keen to acquire Satyam.

iGate said: "We are interested in a dialogue with Satyam. However, we have to wait for the new board at Satyam to evaluate all strategic options and based on that evaluation, set the direction for the company."



Satyam Computer board is likely to conclude its two-day long meeting this evening. The meeting's agenda includes appointing a CEO and deciding on the funding options.
