IBS forays into Russian market

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Transportation solutions major IBS Software based here, has made a foray into the Russian airline sector, signing up with S7 Cargo for implementing IBS' new-generation cargo management solution iCargo in S7 Airlines and Globus Airline.

IBS officials said iCargo, developed by the company in association with six leading global airlines, had within a few years grown to be a leading air cargo management solution, with 19 customers including All Nippon Airways, Austrian Airlines, Qantas and Tokyo International Air Cargo Terminal using the solution.

They said S7 and Globus, headquartered in Moscow, were two fast-growing domestic cargo airlines in Russia, and that IBS had identified Russia as an important market. IBS is in the process of setting up a Russian help desk to support customers in that region. The two Russian airlines have opted for the IBS solution on a cloud-computing mode under which the solution will be hosted from IBSs data centre.

IBS officials said the cloud-computing model was a boon to the ailing airline industry which is seeking to cut capital expenditure, even as it has to move away from the traditional legacy systems to new generation cargo solutions.
