IBM signs power grid deal with AEP, Consumers Energy

IBM said that it signed deals with American Electric Power Co Inc and Consumers Energy, a unit of CMS Energy Corp, to enhance their electric grids.

BANGALORE: International Business Machines Corp said on Tuesday that it signed deals with American Electric Power Co Inc and Consumers Energy, a unit of CMS Energy Corp, to enhance their electric grids.

IBM said it will provide American Electric with support services including programme management, business process designing, systems planning, and system interfaces.

Separately, IBM said it also signed a service agreement with Consumers Energy to test a smart metering pilot programme.

The pilot project with Consumers Energy includes supply of hardware, telecommunications, operations and back-office system software solutions from numerous vendors, the company said.
