IBM bags Rs 128 cr DLF contract

CLOSE on the heels of bagging a 10-year outsourcing deal from Idea Cellular, IBM India has clinched a $29 million (Rs 128 crore) contract from DLF to transform and manage the realty giant’s IT infrastructure.

NEW DELHI: CLOSE on the heels of bagging a 10-year outsourcing deal from Idea Cellular, IBM India has clinched a $29 million (Rs 128 crore) contract from DLF to transform and manage the realty giant’s IT infrastructure.

As part of the 10-year contract, IBM global technology services would implement and maintain policies, standards, technology and delivery infrastructure, and standardise them as part of a broader transformation initiative, that runs across over 20 locations in India. The IT services giant would also undertake security and disaster recovery planning while deploying an organisation security framework and check security readiness for ISO 27000.

IBM would be responsible for helpdesk and deskside support to DLF users across India and be responsible for all IT Infrastructure operations. It would support the current IT requirements of DLF businesses, as well as enable the realty firm to roll out new business initiatives with speed - providing for a predictable cost of IT for DLF as it grows.
The deal comes just days after IBM signed $600-800 million outsourcing contract with Idea Cellular, structured on innovative risk-reward revenue-sharing model. The contract covered the existing operations and potential new additions of Idea, which currently has 14 million subscribers.

The latest partnership would also see IBM and DLF setting up a Technology Innovation Council (TIC) to identify and deploy new solutions for DLF and Indian real estate industry, including advanced security management solutions such as digital video surveillance, technology for land acquisition process and other management systems.
“This agreement supports DLF’s strategy of focusing on core real estate business, improving efficiencies and strengthening competitiveness. Our solution for DLF leverages our technology strengths and will bring in IBM’s innovation expertise through our Research Labs,” said Nipun Mehrotra, director of IBM Global Technology Services (India/South Asia), adding that the deal size could multiply on the back of DLF’s growth plans.
