IBM, Avnet signs distribution deal

Technology giant IBM on Monday said that it has inked a distribution pact with US-based Avnet Technology Solutions for selling IBM's software solutions in India.

NEW DELHI: Technology giant IBM on Monday said that it has inked a distribution pact with US-based Avnet Technology Solutions for selling IBM's software solutions in India.

The distribution agreement enables Avnet and its channel partners to distribute IBM software, including its Tivoli Service Management and Information Management portfolio, IBM said in a statement.

"In India, we already have a distribution agreement for IBM hardware, so this new agreement will now give us an unique competitive advantage in the market place," Avnet Partner Solutions Division (India) Managing Director G Balakrishnan said.

"We will now be able to offer our channel partners the complete IBM storage, server and software solution," he said adding that Avnet will also drive the marketing and technical services.

"We believe that the mid-market space will benefit immensely...Their value-added distribution model will bring the technology expertise and the skills and resources to the channel community allowing them to demonstrate the strengths of IBM's software portfolio in the marketplace," IBM India and South Asia Vice-President (Channels and Ecosystems-Software Group) Anil Menon said.
