Gear up for the virtual world: Satyam chief

Satyam Computer Services chairman B Ramalinga Raju on Thursday said the world was rapidly moving towards virtualisation.

HYDERABAD: Satyam Computer Services chairman B Ramalinga Raju on Thursday said the world was rapidly moving towards virtualisation.

“We have just scratched the surface. Distances are disappearing. We could very soon have a platform for virtual delivery of every service,” he said, at the inaugural address of Advantage IT: A Times Ascent two-day seminar on career opportunities in the IT industry.

Mr Raju, who has steered Satyam into a $1 bn company in just over a decade, said the concept of business process outsourcing was now expanding to cover every aspect of business and across knowledge domains.

Commenting on the human res-ource demand-supply gap facing the IT industry, he said, it was not so much about numbers as it was about industry-preparedness.

“We need to spend a few months or a few quarters to make the talent pool ready for the IT industry,” he added.

The two-day seminar has Infosys Technologies as lead sponsor, SAP Labs India as domain partner, Satyam Computer Services, Symphony Services, Bally Technologies, Yash Technologies and SQL Star International as associate sponsors.
