European jobs on LogicaCMG's radar
LogicaCMG, the $5.2-billion IT services giant, is likely to see its India centre providing offshore and outsourced services to a number of European countries.
However, it is now seeing the mix changing. Nick Caplan, chief marketing officer, LogicaCMG, said more enterprises from Netherlands, France and Nordic region are showing higher interest in offshoring or outsourcing their IT activity.
Europe, traditionally has been lagging US with respect to IT outsourcing and offshoring. However, there has been a steady increase from the region and even the leading Indian IT services majors like Infosys, Wipro, TCS are generating more than 25% of its revenues from this continent.
Mr Caplan said the mix has been changing and LogicaCMG’s acquisition of IT companies in Germany and France has provided the headway into propelling the momentum of outsourcing.
The LogicaCMG official said European companies fundamentally look at cultural fit before going in for any kind of outsourcing.
LogicaCMG currently has around 3,000 people at its development centre in Bangalore. The areas of activity include application development, product engineering and BPO.
The company is clear that it is not looking at any rapid headcount addition in India and believes providing more value-based services. As an example, it said that India centre has already developed very complex financial solutions which has been implemented in the European markets.
Rahul Patwardan, CEO, global delivery centre, LogicaCMG India, said the company has been building strong competencies in certain domains like grid computing, and RFID at its Bangalore centre.
He said LogicaCMG is also increasingly looking at various opportunities in the Indian market, mainly in the areas of telecom, financial services and utility.
