Develop innovation culture: Premji

BANGALORE: Wipro chairman Azim Premji said a culture of innovation was what could sustain companies in these competitive times. ���Products can be quickly copied. So it���s important to continuously innovate in products, services, customer service . Industry must drive high value solutions through R&D ,��� he said.

He urged the government to use IT in their endeavours . IT, he said, would significantly improve the government���s productivity, and help to increase the reach and efficiency of government agencies in delivering citizen services.

He said such deliveries are ���too fragmented ��� in the country today and best practices ���don���t come to the surface��� , and there is a lot of duplication between different organizations in the government resulting in higher costs.

He suggested that states should share their expertise in egovernance . ���States should not reinvent the wheel; they can adapt existing e-governance projects in other states that have already implemented them.������

Talking about the global economic situation, Premji said the mood in the world had changed. ���The last 15 months have been hard on everyone. Some stability is returning . The Western world is likely to record 1-2 % growth in 2010.
